It's been very busy around here. The pipe is all laid, for natural gas, water and electric. And the trenches are all filled back in (except for about 60' in the woods) and the exterior paint is complete. We already had to add on to the place

Our new puppy playpen for our Maremma is not only complete but it's occupied

We converted the old goat house, painted it to match and filled it with straw for bedding. So far, Alessandro is the sweetest little ball of fluff.

Once he gets a bit bigger our birds will be safe from more than just shiny red balls

I would in a minute I miss Alaska I live there for 16 months mostly in Homer but spent several months in North Pole, Wasilla, Valdez and Anchorage. In fact I was driving through Denali when I heard them announce Sarah for Vice President. But I am living back in Colorado and if things work out in the next couple of years I might buy some property there.

This weekend is going to be very busy. The gas line is in and the heater is hung... Check one item off the list.

When we dung the trenches all over the yard we buried PVC pipes that will contain the water and electric lines. Now it's time to actually pull the wires and water lines through their respective pipes. 300' of water lines and then we are pulling electrical wires 137' from the house to the shed and then an additional 158' to the barn.

We are putting outlets for the pop doors which will be on timers, we are also putting timers on the interior and exterior lights. The outside lights will go off about 15 - 20 minutes before the pop doors close, then the doors will close before the interior lights go off. There will be wall switches that will allow me to turn lights on without messing with the timers, and I will have switches for the exterior flood lights so if I need to see in the dark I can.

If any of hte birds don't make it inside before the doors close, the dogs will keep them safe.

BIL is also putting extra outlets, inside and out, so I will have power wherever I need it. H2B is researching surveillance equipment so we can monitor the barn from the house. He found a camera with built in audio as well so we can communicate with the barn if need be, and it might be viewable from a website, he's the tech/geek so I'll know more about it once he gets it all hooked up

And when we're not working we will be enjoying the company of our adorable new puppy
