My new bobwhites!

Pinion.... You Actually Amputate The Distal Tip Of 1 Wing--- Quick Easy And Permanent. And It Really Adjusts Their Lil Spastic Attitudes --- Settles Them Down Quite A Bit. They Can Still Fly Once Pinioned, But Only For Very Short Distances And Low Altitudes--- Like Clipping But Permanent. With Clipping 1 Day You Will Go Out And Open The Pen And Whoooooooosh! They'll Flush -- Usually Toward The Opening Where You're Standing And They'll Get By You And Out Of The Pen.... Thats When You Know They Need Their Wings Clipped Again! Pinion Do It Once And Be Done Forever.

Quickly With A Sharp Pair Of Scizzors!! Lol--- Seriously Tho Do A Search On Here, Niki (monarc23) Posted The Whole Process With Pics And All--- Its Quite Easy And Quick To Do. I Usually Do All Mine Between 3 And 4 Wks Old, But It Can Be Done At Any Age. I Have Ga Giants, Butlers, Valley, And Coturnix-- I Do All My Quail. And It Works The Best With The Bob Speces Birds--- It Really Tames Them Down Quite A Bit. And Now If I Do Get An Escapee Its Easy For The Labs To Catch Him And Fetch Him! Or At Least Chase Them Down With A Net.... Often Times They Just Plop On The Ground And Stand There. If You Move Very Slow And Easy They'll Stay Put Until You Get Your Hands Close Enough To Grab Them Quickly. The Biggest Thing With Bobs Is That They Are Lil Spaz Cases--- So Use Slow Purposeful Non Threatening Movements And They Will Stay Calm. Go Fast And They Spaz--- They'll Thrash About (and Eventually Find A Way Out Of The Pen) And Hurt Themselves Or Get Loose.

Oh Yeah 1 More Thing--- Keep Ur Hands Away From Their Mouths--- They Can Bite Like Lil Feather Covered Snapping Turtles If They Choose To...

LOL I believe it, a wild one I use to have loved to bite me, I aint tried this female -and AM NOT planning on it, she likes to give me aggressive looks- but the male when I do pick him up I can rub underneath his chin and he'll lay his head back and do some type of purring noise LOL though I am not getting in front of that beak to test any further!

TELL ME CODY, HOW LONG HAS THIS LIVING ARRANGEMENT BEEN GOING ON?

I have had them like this for quite a while now. I got me Bobs in early Spring (there was still snow outside) and I got my Coturnix shortly after that.

WOW THATS VERY INTERESTING--- QUITE UNLIKE BOBS THO. HOW BIG OF AN ENCLOSURE ARE WE TALKING ABOUT HERE? I CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND THE LANDSCAPING/ SPACE/ TOYS AND DISTRACTIONS THING AS I HAVE PHEASANTS, BUT THE GA GIANTS THAT I HAVE DONT PLAY AROUND THEY CAN BE QUITE THE NASTY LIL BIRD..... WHAT TYPE OF BOB DO YOU HAVE IN THERE?
