Well hopefully the hard part is done. These rafters took some time. They are nearly all done. There still needs to be 4x4 posts put between each pen and the doors need to be framed. Then I can paint. Argh! why does everything take so long?

Oh yeah... almost forgot we still need a roof.

Hey I spotted milk jugs with the front cut out in your rooster pens. I love that economical idea. I had to separate a pullet today from the rest in a smaller cage. She kept knocking over the chick size waterer and food dish that I put in there. I remembered your milk cartons, cut the fronts out and zip tied them to the sides and ta da! Worked perfect. I love getting ideas from other people. Thanks!

Here's a pic of my two "grow out" pens that my boys and I put together last weekend.

They are both 8X8 and have a shingled roof and yesterday I put two nest boxes in each... in case they need to be converted to breeding pens.

I don't use zip ties, pipe cleaners they come off so I can change the water and food

Wait till you see my BIG $1 feeders. They hold about 4 gallons of feed. We used all pallet wood and old 4" PVC pipes and a $1 storage box. You will have to make some for you pens they are going to be great! They are attached to the doors and I can refill without having to go into the pen

between that and the 3 gallon waterers, I don't have to even visit my chickens anymore

I am going to wait till the BIG CHANGE and then start a little thread on the feeders and link it in my breeding pens.... if I can find them after they move...
