I will be having some little chicks over the the course of the next month or two and decided to I needed a brooder box. I have it shown here with some month old Barr Rocks as demo of how it will work.
I put it together with screws instead of nails and used treated wood where it may be proned to getting wet.
This brooder box will of course stay under a covered area out of the weather.
The size of this brooder is 2' wide X 2' tall (Does not include the legs) X 4' long. These are inside diamensions.
I have a little over a $100 in this setup, I could of done it cheaper, however I figure it will last longer and be safer for me, the chicks, and my house or shed where its used.
The Barr Rocks shown are ready for a bigger pen.
The Austrolorps will be here in about another week or so.
