hello everyone!!

im new here! i am in the process of hatching my first bunch off chicks!
we started off with 13 eggs which my boyfriend bought home from our friends on a local farm, and told me he wanted to hatch them - but we've never done it before so i had to wait a 1 1/2 day (he bought them back on sat and everywhere was closed on sun) to get an incubator etc..... so didnt have the best start to life!!! (we've learnt a lot as we go!!)
now i have 4 healthy chicks, 1 hatched and drying in the incubator and one thats just pipped.....
the first hatched on what we thought was day 19 - cant be sure as we're not entirely sure when they were laid.....the second hatched on day 26 (had to be helped - but now doing fine) then another hatched that day on its own and the last hatched yesterday (with help again - and now doing fine) ... so that just leaves me with the one in the tank and the pipped one (day 28??)....who keeps falling over backwards and cant seem to stand up!!!! (its been hatched for quite a few hours now and is drying off nicely....
i had a couple of problems with 2 chicks (the ones we had to help....) one had a crooked neck and the other was walking on its hocks, but the seem to have righted themselves now....
but this chick just cant seem to get up...it can bend its legs into the correct position without causing any distress......but then when you let it try to stand it just pushes itself over backwards......
also, its legs are back but then go yellow onto its feet....dont know if that means anything - but the other chicks all have solid colour legs and feet so i dont know if its normal or not....
as i say, im very new to all this - so any info/advice would be great......
i hope this all makes sense - sorry its a long one!!!

thanks~

Boy, I sure don't know what to tell you on this, but I have heard of it. You definitely need to make sure it stays upright, as it will die if it stays on it's back. Can you prop it into a corner somehow? some folks use small stuffed animals with their chicks to give them some warm, fuzzy company. Maybe you could prop it into a corner for a bit...put the water/food near it so it can reach...

You know, I just remembered that someone who had issues with a crooked leg on a chick put the chick into an empty water glass; this forced it to stand upright & use the legs as it should. Maybe you could try that for maybe an hour, every other hour?

no luck as of yet - tried taping it down in position etc - but as soon as its released it just throws its head back and falls over backwards - also - it looks like it may have damaged its wing in the process!!! i have put it back in the incubator as the other chicks were attacking it!

wow - im shocked - ive found so many useful tips for various things on this site - i thought someone might be able to help with this......

still no progress - still on its own - on its back - cant stand up - just falls over backwarrds - seems very feisty and strong though which i found surprising!!!!

any help would be great!!! PLEASE!
