Okay, so we got our little ones almost 2 weeks ago(May 11th) and they are all SUPPOSED to be hens. I'll give you a little description of each, tell you what I was told they were by the feed stores I got them at, and then show you pics. I would love it if you would comment and tell me if you agree since I am a total newbie and have never had chicks before! Especially since I'm not sure about the whole Ameraucana/EE thing.

Also, name suggestions would be welcome as well! I keep trying to get pics of them alone, but they HATE the camera!

The black one(Barred Rock) I'm pretty sure is a hen from most of the pics I've seen on here - Just an FYI she is 3 days younger than the others. She is the most athletic(can fly strait up and perch on the top of the feeder - none of the others can do this yet).

The silver one(Ameraucana) had been growing faster than the others and is bigger and has more feather growth. We've already named her Luna.

I was told this was a Sex-link cross between a white leghorn and a RIR. She is very curious and loves to stand really tall and examine anyone that comes close.

This is the RIR and the other Ameraucana(she is still really small and hasn't grown as much as the others but she is the most tame and doesn't mind being held as much as the others do).

And here they all are together.

So those are the "girls!" I hope they really are all girls because my city doesn't allow roosters! This weekend we are starting the coop build and will post the progress.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to your expert opinions!

They are too young to tell gender for sure, but I dont see anything that screams rooster. And your ameraucanas are actually easter eggers. I dont know if you got yours at a feed store or not, but you will never get a true ameraucana from there, they will always be EEs. The only hatchery I have ever seen have true ameraucanas was my pet chicken. This is just me and my opinion, but if you are wanting to buy real ameraucanas never buy any that are speeled americanas, because more liklry than not they will be EEs too.

Thanks for responding! And yes, I did get them at a feed store...two different ones in fact. It's okay, I just wanted blue eggs, so hopefully one of them will lay blue eggs! Even green ones would make me happy! I'm glad none of them scream rooster! How old do they have to be before I can tell do you think?

It just really depends onhow fast they grow and feather in. I have had some that I could sex at 4 weeks and some at 10 weeks, but never longer than 10 in my cases. If either of your chicks feather in like the picture I postedbelow of one of my hens, they will defianltey be pullets, because this is a female color. You will never see a male that has this coloring in EEs. so This is one thing you can be looking for. If you post somepics of them in a few weeks I will try to sex them if you want, but not until they are at least 4 or 5 weeks old.

Pretty girl! Love her proud tail!! What color eggs does she lay?

I will for sure keep you updated with pics! Thanks for the offer. :)

She layed a light pink egg. She always stood very pretty and proper like. I wish i still had her my flock got attacked and she is one that i no longer have because of that. anyways ees have wonderful personalities in my opinion. i has two that layed blue eggs and two that layed pink. And your welcome. And if you have anymore questions. i would love to anwser them!

Oooohhhh, pink! That would be cool!

Sorry to hear you no longer have her. :-(
