My New Chicks!!! PICS!!!

I am so jealous (but not to jealous) of everyones babies... Its my first year with chickens. This will be my first winter too. The youngest I have gotten chicks was 4 weeks... BUT I really want BABY babies... I am nervous about it thou. My neighbor bout 30 babies about 3 months ago... They've only got 10 left... 15 of them died while still in the brooder from various things, and 2 died when we had a sudden cold snap, and then 3 got eaten by evil nite monsters... I have only lost 1 chick to heat stroke, 1 to a predator(hawk) and 2 to my own dogs... so still have 21 out of 25. I think I am doing good so far. But come spring... Spring is to far away...

Well, the ones lost in the brooder were from day old when they got them. I guess they pile up on each other? They didn't do closed brooder, but open, like indoor rabbit cage style, then with 2 heat lamps, well anyway, babies on bottem got suffocated(?) and then power went out, so lights went out, lost a few more, (i would have kept putting hot water bottles in) and then the daughter forgot to turn the lamps on after cleaning the brooder out, and lost a few more. SO, lost half before they were even able to move to coop outside. I hope to have better success than that...

Is it possible that a different roo other than a silkie got together with your silkie hen?
I noticed most of those chicks have yellow legs. Silkies have dark legs.
Whatever they are they are cute though
