I love your dogs! For the geese, you would need a ramp for them to get to the ground. They are a heavy bodied bird compared to ducks and chickens, and they could hurt themselves getting out of that coop. They have short little legs and they don't fly, only flutter. They really need access from ground level.

I know....i was really dissappointed because when I held out the measuring tape in the house, 2 ft seemed to be fine...but now that its at that height...well I wish I could reduce it...but seeing as I can't, I'll probably have to choose this for the chicken coop....I am thinking of maybe cutting the posts and just using one of those metal things at lowes and re-attach them at a lower level...but we'll see...I don't even like it that high for the chickens..but not much I can do now...any advise would be great.

I think the height is great! What a view!

I was thinking maybe my hubby and I could move into your coop. We've always wanted a master bedroom with a view.

If it comforts you at all, we are building our coops about 4 ft. off the ground. I think it will look lovely. Practically speaking, from what others have mentioned, it might reduce rodent problems and they can have an extra place to hang out under the coop. Plus, it might be perfect for not bending down for cleaning, just lean in and do a sweep with a handbroom or dustpan. Just a little encouragement.

thanks!!

actually banter gave me a great idea...one which I was also told by my boyfriend...that a long logn ramp might work...but banter added to put up a kind of guard rail so that they can't fall off the side....see i don't have any birds now so I didn't know that geese can't really jump at all...I was going to have a ramp for the chickens anyway but I thought maybe the geese might be able to hop down too....but it turns out they can't really do all that and I really dont' want them to break a leg or something ...but thanks for all of y'alls input...I keep updating pics......

we got the heaviest snow today (about 5 inches or 6) and I worked some but then it was time for the kids to sled...so I'll keep working on it tomorrow...pics soon
