My new coop...in progress *** NEW PICS on pg. 4

You could very easily make a slide-out bottom at this point. Imagine the floor with 1/2" on each side UNDER the wall framing and the back end. My coop is made just over 4 feet wide x 7 feet long so I can slide in a replacement 4 x 8 MDF for about $6 when the present one wears out. It makes it VERY easy to clean. I just sweep out some poo and shavings, slide the bottom out (There's a wire bottom underneath) and rinse it off. Take a look at:

I love that idea too, but unfortunately, I already nailed the board onto the floor joists and the walls are nailed into everything. Unless I were to cut it out...but that would involve a lot of mod's but I will definitely keep that in consideration the next time I am building one...(at my next home here in a few years because I am sure not going to try to move this one with me

Great start and I personally would continue the faded red barn look. Just remember, mistakes while building are not really mistakes..... it is "character" and you can't buy "character". The character additions make your building unique! Keep adding pic's, because we all enjoy seeing different peoples character

well I worked in the snow and got the 3rd wall put up. For the past few days I've worked on the nesting boxes...they took longer than everything so far. I blame the materials. I am trying to save money by using the tons of scrap wood in the garage...this includes ply wood...I know, not the best, but for now it will do. I can always replace that. Plus some pics of landscapes showing the snow.

By the way...I was going to lower it...but then I was told that as long as I had a long ramp with rails to avoid falls, that it should be okay...we'll try it, if it doesn't work for the geese, we'll just move them into the barn...I think it should be fine for the chickens though. Plus I thought I wouldn't be able to reach it ..but I was thinking of the view that you see in the pic....that is the sloped part of the ground where it ends up being higher...the side next to the barn is actually only 2 ft exactly..so I can reach where I'd get the eggs out of.

so far 2 weeks...and more to go...
