thats what i am saying .... I HATE WINTER....if it were only 2 weeks long, then I'd love it...I love spring...its my favorite season..everything flowering and green and not too hot and not too cold..

well hey...I just thought of soemthing today about my coop...I've been getting a lot of "too high for geese" and I am glad because I have no geese and I needed to know that. I was going to build a ramp....very very very long ramp, but then I thought to myself....what if i just put siding around the bottom and it will be for the geese...on ground level...then the coop would be 2 stories...top for chickens, bottom for geese?

Is it okay for geese to have ground as a base...or should I put something to protect them from predators around the floor?

Your project is coming along nicely. The birds will tell you if they can live together, no matter what, you can always build another coop. I built myself a yard tractor which turned into a 6' x 10', which isn't finished yet and I've already decided to build another coop for some chukars.....we having fun yet?

Dr.Doorlock :

That's really lookin good! You might paint over all it's character. Maybe you should just clear coat it.

wow...thanks....I never thought of that.

I put the other two sides on...all I have left is the roof and the doors and one window....

then I start making the run...and then lastly the really long ramp I'll have to build

You could consider just a "landing deck" instead of a ramp that they can fly up to and then walk on in. It could be two tiers if it's really high. There was a poster here awhile ago who actually had her coop on the second story of a barn, and, yes, the chickens made it up there every night without the ramp! If I remember, she had a ladder type set up on the second story.

I would do that, but i am hoping that with a long ramp my goose will use it too...either that or I will have to add boards on the bottom and she can just nest there..
