Welcome and thank you for sharing your gorgeous birds and your spectatular pictures. And your coop is quite beautiful. Too low? ummmm, perhaps you might consider building a second unit? You really can't have too many chickens you know.

I agree that the leghorns are flighty but they are terrific egg layers. Keep us posted.

Well I had the first egg yesterday 22nd Aug 2010 and another today. The eggs are brown so I presume they are from a red hen. As far as I'm aware the LH which are black, will lay white eggs??? I think that's what I read anyway. It would also appear that it's the same hen also. I wasn't there when they laid, so don't really know.

I also had both eggs for my tea this evening really nice orange yolk.
