This duck house took my husband and I about a month to build. The floor is 4 pallets that currently has extra pallet boards covering the gaps but we are switching to vinyl plank (hubbs installs floors and there were a few boxes left over). The walls are two pallets high all around bolted every 4 inches or so and screws in between (hubby went overboard lol). The roof is metal. I installed a mineral feeder (normally for goats) onto the wall for water at night and has worked awesome so far. I put it high enough for the ducks to just be able to get their beaks in and there hasnt been a huge wet mess all over as I had with the bowls. I asked for nesting boxes and hubby came up with an extra awsome idea for me .. in between the two nesting boxes he added a space for me to put two bales of straw so its all in one area and I dont have to lug it down from the garage. During the winter we will be adding a door to the front to avoid snow and critters from getting into it. He made cut outs and used hardware cloth for the top front and windows on both left and right sides of the house. He reinforced the wiring on the inside by framing out the window. I love it for ease of cleaning and is much more spacious for the ducks. We are going to water seal it to prevent rotting due to the snow this winter. I think we did an amazing job and im grateful he put so much into it.
