Here's a quick shot of my feathered family, checking out the temporary pen we set up. We're trying to decide on a fence height and type for a permanent set up. We have too many chickens for our run, and it wasn't fair to them not to give them some decent real estate. They are LOVING IT!

From the left and clockwise- Jelly Bean, Rainbow (EEs), Darth Cluck ( Australorp), at top I think is Hen Solo ( RIR), Hera ( Back Sumatra), Eggitha Christie ( RIR), and in the foreground-making sure I'm not messing with his girlfriends, is my heart-throb Black Jack (Australorp Roo). He's my first roo, so this is all new, but I cannot get over how gorgeous he is.

In case you missed it in another thread, he wasn't suppossed to be a HE, but the hatchery messed up. I fell in love with him on day one, though I suspected he was a he even then! We're trying it out, roosters aren't forbidden here, but already informed the neighbors and told them to let us know if he's too loud and we'll try to find him a more rural home. He's actually pretty nice so far, but he really wanted to check out my toes while I was in there. Hahah!

It looks like your pretty flock is enjoying their new area. Maybe you will decide a movable pen could work. Chickens have a way of scratching up the forage area when given enough time.

Today I let my Chicklets out after the rain, they discovered an ant mound and went to work on it. The Guinea's haven't left the Chicklets side yet

Thanks everyone! Oh an ant mound- that must have been very exciting for them :)

Mine are really enjoying the bigger area. We are considering a mobile pen in addition to this, but not until next spring by the time we are able to build one.
