Mambas, just awesome but just because a snake is venomous it doesn't have to mean death. With proper handling, no problem.

Well no one guessed the snake in the pic except Texasgal in a PM so I'll give the species.

Its a African puff adder and it has an extremly bad attitude.

Thanks for the info! Copperheads are gorgeous but I don't really plan on owning venomous snakes. Not unless I had up work with them.

Nope, I've never hatched snake eggs but I've hatched well over 100 bearded dragon eggs. Definitely not snakes, but they're herps!

WOW........you have some amazing snakes!!! I have given serious consideration to eventually having a venomous snake. I would love to have a rattlesnake some day. And honestly, the snakes I have dealt with in the wild, the rattlesnakes seem to have a better attitude than most. Not to mention, you just can't beat how beautiful they are!!!

Its really amazing hatching snake eggs. I didn't have any intensions on hatching any but a pregnant female of a king snake that was caught and brought to my house laid them so I had to give it a try and had good success.

Good luck in your attempt and let me know how it goes. They should hatch in August I would think. That is when the wild caught snakes hatch theres.

Speaking from lots of experience if you do decide to get a venomous snake please follow the advise I gave theOEGBman in post #28 first before getting a rattler. Get yourself a good snakehook and mess with a copperhead for awhile and get your experience from that. The bite from a copperhead want be anywhere as deadly as from a rattler.

Also if you have never been bitten by a rattler you want know if you are alergic to the bite or not. We used to know a man that got bit by a rattler, he didn't know he was alergic and he was dead in 10 minutes. GONE

If you get yourself a copperhead and give yourself a year or so to train with the snake and do O.K. than I would say go for it. They are beautiful snakes.

I love when company comes over and then one of our rattle snakes starts rattling {from the snake room} and then you see this weird look on our companys face. It takes a minute sometimes for us to figure it out because the sound of rattlers is a normal noise in my house. I don't even hear it b/c its such a normal noise.

To me it isn't scary to have venomous snakes living in my house. We have one room that is wall to wall with aquariums. We do snake rescues and go snake hunting every year. We have also particpated in two documentaries about snakes. I have no trouble sleeping her at all.

A littles secret though, if there was a cricket loose in my house I would not be able to sleep in my house. Whats up with that?

Not sure if I am understanding your question but here goes. I have done both. So far this year I don't have any snake eggs. As far as my chickens, the snakes are off limit to them.
