Hi Everyone,

This rooster (I am pretty sure it's a rooster??) showed up in my front yard and has decided to make it his home. I am working on finding him a nice, permanent home but I am curious if anybody knows what breed of chicken he is? And can you tell his approx age? I really appreciate it! Thanks.

His color is called crele. I'd guess that he's a gamebird or a gamebird cross based on his small head and the high set and slightly patchy coloration of his tail. I'd like a better picture of his comb.

Good luck on finding him a home!

And welcome to BYC, even if you don't plan on sticking around.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies! It's fun learning more about him. He's very handsome...his tail feathers have a blue sheen to them. I will attach more pics =)

Is the comb the red on top of his head?

One more pic....
Never showed birds, but it does look to me as though he was dubbed. Even Easter Eggers usually have larger wattles than that. I agree with @The Phantom as to his age, and retract my earlier statement about the patchy coloration of his tail.

Below is a Crele Old English Game. It's a pretty common breed (for a game rooster that's not a bantam) and I suspect that's what he is. (though your boy has prettier feathers, without a doubt.)

EDT: I can't seem to get a very good look at his comb, though, so it may not be dubbed. Is it a smooth line across the top? If it is, he was almost certainly dubbed. If it wasn't, then he has a pea comb and may very well be a game/Easter Egger cross.
