Before I read on, I figured the chicks were going to be isa browns or rir. I am glad to see your success. Keep us updated with pics now and then so we can see development of the chicks and guess what breed they are.

Yeah, I plan to document their growth for learning purposes and I'll share with people here. There are other projects I plan to do (breed for chicken intelligence, quiet roosters, higher hatch rate of female to male chicks) and document so others can learn or feel inspired to do their own projects. I think the hens used were ISA browns but it occured to me they could have any sort of rooster they wanted running around with them.

I may resort to just sending a letter to Farmer's Pride and asking them directly what breeds they use.


Here is a pic of the wet goopy chick all dried. He has an almost metallic yellow mask across his eyes and wingtips. I will get better pics of him when my batteries recharge for my camera.
