Now I've just gotta find some other great bloodlines for some biodiversity next year.
Did you see my thread?
I'm going to be setting about 80 eggs on Good Friday.
24 from Wayne Meredith (large, seems like everyone traces their birds back to him)
24 from Peachick (Some of Jeans bloodlines, great quality and blue, blue eggs. )
18 from Pasofinofarm (where I got my original hens, and they are wonderful)
and as many of my own 12+ that I can jam in the bators.... (Jean's roo over Melissa's hens)
Last hatch, I got about 2/3rds ROOS!
I'm just hoping for some pretty Blue Wheaten pullets and a nice BW roo or two.... I'll rehome the roos again and perhaps sell some of the wheaten pullets.
One of the W/BW Ameraucanas pipped last night and when I woke up this morning it was out, walking around the incubator!
What do I do now? It's not dry yet, so I know I'm suppose to leave it in the incubator, how long though? This little baby is early, today is only day 20. None of the other eggs have pipped yet, a lot of them are rocking like crazy. I'll try to get some pictures up soon, unfortunately I've got work today.
What about it food? Does it need to eat? How long can it stay in the incubator? I'm so happy but scared at the same time!
Leave the chick in there until it is dry, fluffy and walking around with no troubles. It can go up to 3 days without food or water but you should take it out as soon as you can. Hope you have a great hatch!
