My Peachicks Of 2013 **Will Have Lots Of Pics**

Well if it lost 11-13% of it's weight while incubating it would be upper 50's or 60 grams at hatch. Thanks for the condolences but there is many more eggs in the bator and I'm still getting eggs from them. Next year the male should handle 3 hens easily and hopefully he won't be so agressive and mean.I have a daughter of PiPi that is an IB hen that has white fringes on her back feathers that will go in with him next year.

Here is the new chick 18 (seeing that I lost 2 chicks it brings me back to 18 now but really 20 total that hatched so far) It is from Cupid - white spalding suppose to be split to peach but doubt it LOL and Nyx the purple BS hen.

Here is chick 19 it's a IB pied split to charcoal. Yes it is out of Hades the charcoal and Aphrodite the IB Pied. This one needed help this morning to hatch. Somehow it pipped and started to zip but it's leg popped out of the zipped hole LOL and the chick was stuck in the egg and could no longer move. It actually pipped Monday and hatched today. I had to tape it's legs due to the leg sticking out of the shell. This chick looked like it was doing a split as the leg stuck out under the beak. Looks pretty good now hopefully it will heal nicely.

Here comes chick 20 another from Hades the charcoal and Hera IB split charcoal. This little one looks IB split charcoal. Today an accident occured at my house, details at bottom of this post

Today after I left for work my mother and grandmother came over my house to use my dryer because hers broke and they could not fix it til Thursday. Well my mother was folding the clothes when she heard a loud bang. She said somehow my 95 year old grandmother was trying to see what was in the plastic tote and she must have tried to move it and she lost her balance and she ended up pulling it down and it fell over with her and when all was said and done I lost 3 chicks. My mother called me all upset, now she will be 70 next month and I did not need for both of them to end up with heart attacks over it. I explained it was all right even though I was deeply hurt by the loss. My grandmother doesn't want to come to my house no more cause she killed the chicks. I had to spend a lot of time to explain to her that it was just meant to be. We have no control over accidents that happen. I keep hugging her telling her it was all right. My mother knew that I was hurt because one of the chicks that died was my Charcoal pied chick that I waited 3 years to finally hatch, the one I constantly babied and talked about. I also lost the sister that hatched after him and Ares' only chick so far that hatched. Again I do not know what exactly happened just what I think did. I think my grandma was trying to peek in and when she went to walk away she lost her balance and grabbed onto the tote to stop her from falling and both went down. The tote did not land on her but next to her not ontop of her. I really think it broke her fall and that is why she was ok. My mother bought her to her doctor later in the afternoon and her check up came back great except for the couple bruises on her arm. I cannot bring back the chicks but didn't want to lose my grams either. I still have a lot of charcoal eggs and she is still laying so hopefully I can hatch another one. This will bring me back to 17 chicks but 22 actual hatches.

Congratulations on the new peachicks, which are very cute. I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your eggs so that you can have more charcoal chicks.

Yoda, sooo sorry for ur loss,as bad as it hurts, remember things do happen for a reason, even though we dont understand, maybe this is away of showing u lots more beautiful successful babies to come..thankfully grams is not seriously injured....prayers your way

Yoda, your still ahead of me here. Not one charcoal egg has hatched and very few has been fertile. But I noticed tonight one of my new Opal chicks has white flights which has me ecstatic here, knowing theres hidden genetics within the 2 hens that I hatched 2 years ago, that one of which is the mother of this Opal white flighted peachick. And I have a lot more Opal eggs baking.

Thanks guys!! I think this has been the worst year for me so far. First the freakin cat on the incubator, then the loss of 5 chicks. The fox killing 3 guinea hens, a peahen and 23 chickens before joining them - who knew she'd fail swim class? I also had to put my first Emu chick to sleep also. Just seems to be a bad year so far but the new chicks are starting to hatch agian and they make it a little better each time.

I have 2 beautiful Emu chicks running all over the pen. All my males still have tails except for the 2 whites. Looking at the 2 year old males and saying to my self "where the heck am I going to put you next year?" Priceless

Frenchy how many girls and what colors are with the charcoal?

Here's chick 21. He's out of Hades charcoal and aphrodite pied. The chick is a white IB split to charcoal. In the second picture the leg closest to you is bending 90 degrees to the chicks right but from the "knee" only the thigh is not twisted. Never seen that before til today. I might have to bring it to the bird Vet if I cannot get it to straighten out.
