My Peachicks Of 2013 **Will Have Lots Of Pics**

Ok checked the eggs and right now I have one that pipped

and all the rest do have life growing inside, so that would be 100% fertility

That means I currently have 31 fertile eggs and I just added 4 more to the incubator (I was going to save that rack for guinea eggs but changed my mind LOL).

Congrats! Curiously, is 100% fertility unusual?

Who, me? If so, I have 10 that went in on 5-12, 5 under the little Cochin and 7 that I need to find hen(s) for.

People usually get a few duds in the batch that aren't fertile. I had a 98% hatch rate in 2011 and last year I sold all my eggs except those few I put in to confirm fertility. I even have a cracked (actually has a hole) egg in there and it has a heart inside that is moving LOL I hope it does hatch.

Ok here is chick number 4 a Black Shoulder. I am getting confused about genetics here LOL I know the mother is Purple BS and the father is IB split white but these 3 BS chicks look more white to me then BS LOL I wonder if the hen has white in her?

I wish some of mine would hatch! 0/4 so far. Next four eggs due to hatch end of next week. Do any of you use the 1502 sportsman for your peas?

I have used 2-3 forced air hovabators for a long long time for all my different bird hatching. I feel the same way Yoda. Thats why I never changed. I do replace the wafers every 2-3 years wether it is needed or not just to be safe. i have friends with the 1502's and they feel the exact same way. If you want to hatch alot of eggs alot of the time you should probably go with a bigger one like the1502.

I just set 13 peahen eggs last night... my first ones, I drove 4 hours one way to get them and they are all (but one) fresh laid from yeasterday as well... we drove around to the different pens and he collected the eggs right then... as he had just filled a huge order the day before... luckly me!
