I just got to thinking, maybe he's not really pecking at his feathers, maybe he's preening, which is normal.

How wonderful to have a peacock come visit! I hope he'll decide to stay. Many years ago I lived in a rural cabin where feral peacocks lived in the surrounding woods... abandoned by a neighbor about 40 years earlier! They did fine on their own, even in snowy winters. We tossed mixed grains out for them, back when I knew nothing about birds.

Aren't peacocks native to India or southern Asia? They seem to be pretty hardy so should survive in a range of different climates. I think @casportpony is our resident peacock expert so I'm sure you can ask her anything.

Seems like Peacocks escape often or decide to look for better homes, often folks on BYC
have reported a Peacock joining their flock and staying. Seems to be males not peahens
