I've only had them a couple of days, but was having to clean the water dish 10 times per day.
I drilled the cap of a pom juice bottle and screwed in a chicken nipple, then made a pin hole in the bottom of the bottle. I hung it on the side of the brooder box with a clip and a net onion bag, just above peep head height. I put a roll of foam between the side of the box and the bottle to make it stand out a little, not hang straight down.
After several beak-finger demonstrations the tiniest barred rock pullet walked up and took a few pecks. Now all six of them are clustered around taking turns with the new toy. This is good training because the water in the yard is a bucket with 3 nipples on the bottom. Clean water for everyone.
I emptied the ceramic water dish, filled it with shavings and buried it level in the shavings to catch any drips and keep the rest of the shavings dry.
