My Pekin Duckling has a Leg Problem

The one that is having the issue is about 7 weeks old. It's been going on for a while because I thought it was a niacin problem. I gave him the niacin in his water and brewers yeast in his food and nothing changed so I think he has a slipped tendon. From the link that I read it has to be treated almost as soon as it happens because they grow so fast. So I'm thinking my little guy is unfixable at this point.
I'm so sorry to hear that.. Mine is about 3 weeks and I don't know how to correct the tendon. I've been periodically giving him breweries yeast in food and water and he drinks/ eats it but doesn't get better... Is he in pain? I've been thinking if he isn't hurting then I'll just let him do his own thing and just be a little slow. But now I'm not too sure what to do...

The link that Amiga sent both of us tells you some different ways you can try to correct it. Since yours is still so young and it most likely just happened recently you can probably fix it. Although from what I've read people haven't had that great of recovery results. I guess because the duckling grows so fast its hard to keep the tendon in place once it slips. And if you wait too long to try to correct it it will be harder because the bone will have grown but the tendon hasn't stretched to the right length. As far as the duck being in pain I have the same question. That is my biggest concern. If he's not in pain I don't mind if he's lame..I'll just always keep a closer eye on him. But if he's in pain I feel I will probably have to put him down.

Amiga mentioned Vitamin E and selenium the link she gave ya'll about Qwackers tells it all especially for the one that looks like it maybe be neurological also.Levi123 have either of you thought of a vet visit there might be something they can do with the leg put it in a brace of some kind to correct the problem.

I've thought about calling to see how much a vet visit would be...I just don't have the funds right now to rack up a big vet bill. :/

Hey my ducks are clumsy &prone to leg sprains & limps .While a blast to watch waddling off to their next adventure they just do not see any reason to detour around anything. I pick up twigs but to no avail. One day poetry in motion & the next day crash bam boom. Most heal quickly. Yours sounds like a factory defect.
I have 4 cayugas & a mix silky/giant Pekin

See if you can't find something to help by going here. https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/ i know vets are expensive but there still might be something you can do to help. Vitamin therapy etc.

im trying to see if the tendon has slipped but i don't notice anything... It honestly looks like the leg is out of socket or something because where the skin ends and feathers start it is jutting out and not tucked in like the other leg. I've been making sure he gets some Brewers yeast while I watch, in case he isn't getting it in his food. There just isn't any improvement...

Have you felt it to see if there is noticeable difference in how this leg feels there to the one that is normal? if it's out of socket you should be able to feel the difference between the 2 legs where they attached to the body.

My aunt has a neighbor with a farm and lots of animals and I took them there tonight so they can have a pond and a lot more area to play! She is even talking to her vet about the poor guy with the leg and neck and I'll be checking up on them each week. I'm glad everything got figure out, and I'd like to thank everyone for all the help that was given! :)
