My Pekin Duckling has a Leg Problem

If the legs are spraddled, yes that might be a good idea - but if one leg has a slipped tendon, I don't think it would be as helpful. I have not had to work with this myself - I am trying to share what I know and offer ideas. Some have used flexible splints.

That's something you might try - it's balancing the concern that he not get knocked over with his very real need to be with others. Maybe a buddy? And perhaps just separate using plastic poultry fence divider so they can see each other all the time.

Tonight I will split them up two and two and see how he does... When i take him out he can still walk but will sit with his one leg out majority of the time. I agree it's the nervous system since his neck is getting droopy...I'll try the bath tonight. I've been giving him Brewers yeast but there hasn't been much improvement. :/

I gave him a supervised bath and he did pretty well. I Also gave him a mixture of the Brewers yeast for him to drink and he's quite a bit more active, but his leg is still in a limping state and his neck is still pretty droopy.. I'm supposed to move them to the barn this week but I don't think he's well enough to go. But they are quickly outgrowing the brooder and need to be moved to a bigger place. Should I keep just him back and risk te absence of his friends?

May be a slipped tendon - see if this information helps. https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/poultry-podiatry

Thanks for redirecting me - I was looking at the wrong post. sigh.
From what I read from this he is probably way over the time period for fixing his leg. I'm just worried he's in pain. Do you think it would be better to just put him down? Or am I just going to have a lame duck from now on? I don't want to put him down but i don't want him to be suffering either. He still gets around with his buddies and eats and and drinks...

Hi as you can see I'm having the same problem... How old is your duck? A lot of this stuff is extremely similar to my situation. Any other suggestions? I hope your duck will get better so he doesn't have to suffer:( im in the same boat and am not sure what is best for him at this point.

The one that is having the issue is about 7 weeks old. It's been going on for a while because I thought it was a niacin problem. I gave him the niacin in his water and brewers yeast in his food and nothing changed so I think he has a slipped tendon. From the link that I read it has to be treated almost as soon as it happens because they grow so fast. So I'm thinking my little guy is unfixable at this point.
