I ordered the shoes and tricide neo. It may take 2 weeks for shoes to come. Is there a proper way to wrap duck feet until the shoes arrive?

I picked up the clear iodine today. My duck hates the soaks. Any ideas on the best way to apply iodine?

Some ducks don't realize we are rying to help.

My clear iodine came with a little stick attached to the inside of the bottle lid. I touch the tip of the stick to the infected spot.

I don't want to hijack another's post, but I have two adult ducks I adopted, and they both seem to have come with bumblefoot. @Amiga can you take a look and let me know what you think? They are not limping or favoring them in any way, I just want to be proactive. Here is the first duck Rosa, she is a small chocolate runner.

Would you consider these mild cases, or more advanced? They have never had a black scab, but I'm not sure how advanced these are. Thanks!

Hello, Jen, thanks for "paging" me!

Those look like early bumbles, as well as a few standard foot callouses.

I would - you are going to love me - wipe a dab of triple antibiotic ointment on each foot at bedtime for about five days, and take another set of photo's.

I don't have a graphic pencil so I cannot circle which ones I think are callouses, which are iffy, and there are a few that look like very early bumbles.

So that's what I would do. And if you can, make sure the surfaces they walk on are the least abrasive you can. Straw, fine mulch and sand are all easier on the feet than wire, concrete or sharp stone.

Good photo's - congratulations.

Thanks for the reply @Amiga. Are the bumble the ones that look more like pimples? They have a head or an eye? The previous owner had them 24 hours a day on hard packed earth, so I am sure that is what started it. They are on mostly grass, and they walk across 1" stones to get to their house, which is a very small amount of time. They seem to have gotten smaller on their own in the month I've owned them, but I will definitely start the ointment tonight. I usually visit with them in the evenings, so it won't be hard to do. Thanks! I will update in a week.
