My Pet Chicken. com.... Reliable??

I placed an order with them and then cancelled due to extremely high shipping cost. I order from McMurray instead and paid half the shipping for twice as many birds. I was very happy.

Yes, their shipping cost is high. I bought 12 vaccinated chicks for about $50 bucks, and the shipping was around the same. Some folks can't deal with that 25-chick minimum order, so MPC is a compromise. It's been years since I've kept track, but some of the major hatcheries are accepting smaller orders now. There is no way I could keep 25 hens in my small back yard in an HOA.

Yes I couldn’t either. I have a mother who has chickens so she took the others and neighbors bought some too. I believe their minimum is now 12 depending on the ti,e of year

I'm glad that worked out for you with family and neighbors. I over-ordered 12 hens, thinking that there would be some losses in transit, BUT THEY ALL SURVIVED! I spend more money on them for feed and goodies than for myself.

With health issues, I don't have the coop built yet, but I've built a nice large run for them.

Even a deck to watch some chicken TV, watching all their antics.

I cant get large shipments either due to space limitations. I bought 2 male golden laced wyandotte's and 10 female of the same. Shipping was 36.00 express USPS i believe its overnight service. The less you buy from them the higher the shipping due to less heat from multiple chicks so they have to get to the buyer faster. I like MPC due to smaller minimums. But i would rather pay the price for faster shipping on just the number of chicks I want and not have to buy 25+ at a time.

Overlooking the shipping cost, MPC would be perfect for someone wanting a small backyard flock. It's not gonna break the bank to pay their shipping.

Look through all their selections and you may find some that are not offered at other hatcheries. I never heard or came across an Austra-White, which is supposedly a new cross of a Black Australorp roo over a white Leghorn, not as flightly, so I took a chance on those. One is super friendly and is always under my hands/arms while changing out the water/feeder. I nudge it, move it to the side, lets me stroke its head, neck, back and sides...it just keeps scratching and digging and doesn't care what I do. The other two are skittish as hell, and one wants to peck my hand in spite of the food I'm holding.

They are 20 weeks old now and still in a BIG brooder that I built.

I believe three or four of them have started laying in the last two weeks, and this is what I got from them.

If I do have 10 hens, it's gonna really be more than I can handle. If the other two suspects end up being roos, then I'm down to eight hens.

Oh, this is an Austra-White from MPC...

Awe, I'm so glad!
My 4 babies arrived safe and sound! I'm very happy with mypetchicken. I just order ducks for June so I'm really hoping that that order will arrive safe and sound too.

I'm seriously so happy that everything went good for you!
