My Pet Chicken hatchery is the BEST!!!

I have chicks coming next week from mpc. It's my first time with chicks, I sure hope they all make it through shipping and arrive healthy.

I ordered 2 buff orpington, 2 black australorp, 2 red star, and 2 easter eggers. Can' wait until they're here!

SO, the chicks ordered from MY Pet Chicken are actually hatched and shipped from Meyers Hatchery. Why then can't Meyers Hatchery lower their minimum to what MPC is since the low minimum is the reason people order from MPC?

They DO have their minimum if you look at their website. They can do less than 25. Personally, I would cut the middleman and order directly with Meyers or Ideal hatchery which they can deliver less than 25 chicks.

BUT...MPC will 'attempt to' sex bantams, while I don't believe Meyer will (not sure how that works, if Meyer folks are doing the sexing????). I did end up with 1 out of 4 bantam's being male though when I ordered bantams. However, that happens to folks ordering LF too sometimes.

i picked up 2 white cochins, americana, and a golden laced wyandott from Meyers this spring. (I am local to them lucky me!) all four are really healthy and good girls so far. (16 weeks) I had no issues with them what so ever. The place is immaculate as well. very well staffed, freindly, and helpful I saw a peep in the chick houses and they were nice and clean, well lit and stuff as well. I give them an A so far.

We just ordered from MPC. All three arrived alive and well. I was impressed that they arrived the morning after they were shipped- and we live across the country in California. So far they are all doing great and growing like crazy- but only time will tell if we really ended up with all pullets. We decided to order from them b/c we only wanted 3 or 4 chicks and even TSC has a minimum purchase of 6.

The only reason I wouldnt order from MPC again is b/c after our mail order chickies arrived i found out a local feed store that regularly gets in a huge variety of chicks and has no minimum purchase. They will even special order for you. We ran down and got just one more chick- an adorable little Americauna (to add to our RIR, BR and Red Star). It was so hard to just get one more! In the future we will just buy from the feed store and skip the $35 shipping charge!

I agree as well! It was MPC site that pushed me over the edge to get chickens. They had a great website with lots of information about the different breeds and if they didn't have a certain breed they posted where to find it. i also bought my first batch of chicks from them as well. I had only one die in the shipping process and one turned out to be a roo. I would buy from them again!!
