We update our availability as the season progresses. Just because they are sold out now, doesn't mean they will remain sold out.

This is great advice! Monday mornings are also a great time to order. We have our "Over Hatch" availability that we can ship from. They will ship that day.

My Pet Chicken
I ordered 15 chicks due to arrive in the first part of may and I am so excited. I can not wait to have them delivered lol lucky the postal workers are my neighbors and friends lol plus they have dealt with 2 packages of worms for me so I am pretty confident that things will go well. May seems so far away though.

Don't worry it will go very fast! I placed a order from Meyer(where my Pet Chicken gets there birds) and I ordered in January. I picked a April 11th hatch/ship date as I wanted warmer weather to ship them in. Talk about a wait!! Finally Finally Monday my eggs go into the hatcheries incubator!! (yes I counted and marked my calendar!) :) Please pray for a safe and healthy arrival for my chicks and there long journey. I can't wait to meet them! I have coming/ 7 Female Barred Rocks, 1 free female suprise breed production layer, 1 Female Silver Penciled Rock, and 1 Female Golden Cuckoo Maran. All will be vaccinated for Mareks disease. ( it was only .50 cents per vaccine) Great price! I never thought it would get here having ordered in January! Your time will go fast don't worry and congratulations on your new chicks! :)

So far 3 partridge plymouth rocks and 3 SLW to expand my little flock of Aussies. Oh and of course I plan to watch and see if I can get lucky and add the breed (s) I missed out on earlier

I ordered 11 chicks in 2015. 10 arrived healthy, one was DOA. They promptly refunded my money for 1 Golden Campine. All were pullets. I am so pleased I just placed an order for may 23rd. Of 12 pullets. All different breeds. Yes shipping is ridiculous but I want all different kinds so I can tell them apart as they all have names. Dogs got 2 of my original 10 just 2 weeks ago. So super sad. I am also going to try to hatch 12 eggs that will arrive the week of April 25th and be set to hatch on may 2nd so they will hatch the same day as my ordered shipment. I realize only half, if I'm lucky, will hatch and half of those may be roos. I live in the country so that's okay.

I placed my third order (two last year, one this year) from MPC this spring because I have been so happy with all of my experiences with them. I am sad that with how booming backyard chickens are right now there was no way that I was going to get one or two of everything I wanted, especially since I have learned so much more than last year and have become pickier about the breeds and colors I want to add to my flock (marans, polish, barnevelders, ameraucanas, BLRW, silkies, etC) SO I decided to just order their "assorted rare breeds" and take my chnaces with what i get. On their website is says if u order 5 or more (I ordered 10) of the assortments u are guaranteed AT LEAST three different breeds. I REALLY would like if they sent me a full 10 different breeds but I was just wondering if anyone has ordered an assortment and what sort of variety they got?? I'm really a ONE OF EACH type of chicken "collector" but like I said, it's harder to get my hands on what I want this year it seems. They come tomorrow or Wednesday so I guess we will see!!

If you order in the fall as soon as they announce their offerings you have the best chance of getting the different breeds you want. Early on the morning your chicks are to ship, if you call them, you can find out if they have any of the sold out breeds you wanted and add them to your order.
The other year I had wanted black copper marans and they wasn't available with my shipment, then later on they were..

I love MPC! I ordered my chicks for delivery in October of last year. I was able to call on hatch day to add a few more when I saw some of the breeds that I really wanted were available that day. Their customer service folks are great! They all arrived healthy and for the first time since I've had chickens, all of them survived to laying age. They are all beautiful and healthy! One did turn out to be a boy, but they refunded me for him. Now I just have to find him a home. I love that I can get just what I want, in the numbers that work for me!

Yeah :( I know I just thought early would mean like January. And this is my last year adding for a while becuase my husband says I have too many (even though we live in the country and I have 2 coops) I ONLY have 30 ish after I get my order. It's too late now so really I was just wondering what to expect from my assortment. Meyer has great reviews about their assorted rare breeds and I've read that's where MPC chicks come from so I'm hoping for the best! Thanks for the advice tho! I will be ordering very early in 3 or so years when I'm allowed to slim down the flock and exchange some for the freezer for new chicks!! I did also check right away this morning and they had NO over flow chicks listed on their website.
