my pet chicken reviews

Pics
Yes, MY PET CHICKEN , for me NEVER AGAIN. I just threw a $100 worth of eggs (6) away due to VERY BAD SANDPAPER SHELLS created from double ovulation, which cause 2 to explode by day 14, 1 not fertile, 2 with dirt on them which seeped in bacteria and killed those.

Customer service is terrible, they put HUSH MONEY into my acct without my permission to "make all this go away". I was told the $25 they placed into my acct was not compensation for eggs or admittance in wrong doing, just feel bad. That was BEFORE I told them about my mother dying.

I was a first time customer gone last time customer. And what's really bad, is these eggs were from my mom for my bday and they were Lavendar Wyandottes. She sat down with me because she wanted to get the ones I wanted because she couldnt afford GREENFIRE.

Their response,

I wish you would have told us about the Mom thing earlier, this probably would have been much different in regards to refund and wanted to know why I didn't tell them. See, my mom died right after she bought these for me, two days after.
Why did I not tell them? Because it isn't any of their business nor should it matter in the customer refund conditions or service. The owner LAUGHED at me people, as I was crying on the phone. Told me I was horrible customer and tried to set me up...They knew I was going to BBB(that bad) so she started trying to reverse my words to help them because they were recording and was upset I would not take their hush money. And worries because I have kept everything and was on it with this hatch. And honestly, they have no clue. They couldnt even understand what I was talking about in regards to handling eggs before they get to me. Not only that, but because I am a knowledgeable hatcher, they comtinuously blamed and still do blame shipping. Yes, its a factor, I know but it is not my first shipped egg. And my box didnt have a mark, dent, nothing. I have to admit, I like the foam rubber egg holder they use for packing. Also, I bought 6 eggs. Four were labeled with "LW" and two were not. Those eggs not marked were the worst. And the shell color was lighter than wyandottes. So, did they just toss everything they could find to put my order together before going on vacation? Really? That is what the owner calls an "outstanding farm?"

I will NEVER buy anything from MPC again, nor should they be an advitiser here because they have poor quality eggs from two outstanding farms and they don't care. I can't control that.

I was told by one person that they actually had their eggs and they were a 2nd party hatchery. Then I was told they outsourced their eggs from 2 farms so that makes them a broker in my eyes and these people need to be put out if business.

I have the emails that when finally getting to Owner, she said "oh yes, we have been watching your order, complaining about our eggs, sending email after email but I am sorry you are Not getting your money back."

Now..... I am a retired nurse. I put these eggs in shipping ICU per Sally Sunshine's instructions to the detail. I have never lost great shipped eggs using her advice and sent 40 pictures of the process. From at the post office with eggs, home where I found ALL SANDPAPERED SHELLS, Dirty, and one was GOUGED, hidden from site until I pulled them out.

They tell me that they tried to get a hold of farm but was heading out of town to go to Disney World, my state and so I would have to wait. So, probably in a hurry, they said "lay hen lay " and gave me 20 weeker eggs.

I was told I didnt know what I was doing, talking about, and attacked her rep with harsh emails. Go figure.

So if there is anyone out there listening,

DO NOT USE THEM EVER!
they are running out of farms who will connect to them so the poorer the service will get. Whoever picked my eggs did ZERO quality control work - no candling for gouges, dirt, and those horrible shells which she even tried to tell me that happens in Wyandottes. I said that happens in aproximately 1% of Wyandotte eggs.

NO there are only two ways:

Double ovulation from early flocks
Excess calcium which was not the case because shells were really thin and supports the first.

I was laughed at when I told them I was going to BBB and BYC AND said "you do what you have to do because you are too upset to settle anything with me" from supervisor.

So, for once, I am following through and reporting them to the BBB. She said she didnt care and that her eggs were top quality and there are people out there that will buy them even if they are not good enough for me. THEY BRIBED ME, placed money into acct, and thats uncalled for even when they do like to call it a "customer service trust fund" for those they feel sorry for. I asked them to remove their monies out of my acct and am now processing a fraud charge on them through bank, which she laughed when I told her I wanted the eggs my mom bought for my bday not money. THE eggs sitting in carton waiting for a shipping label to return to them to which she said "don't send them back, why would I want rotten eggs?" And I told her because I feel that you should at least receive some of my pain and suffering and I wanted her to show the farm to which she told me that she showed them the pictures and nothing was wrong with them and the big pieces of shell that came off had nothing to do with a poor hatch.

After all of that, when I said I would put a review of their service and lack of quality control on BYC, I was told, they have plenty of people on that site who will buy these eggs at this quality if you won't so go on ahead and place the review.

NEVER AGAIN will this happen TO ME.
PLEASE DON't let it happen to you.

14 Days of horrible treatment because my mom knew I wanted purple chickens.... To which owner just chuckled.

SAD.

I'm so terribly sorry for your loss. I can't imagine a more difficult time to have an order not go perfectly for you. I have read your numerous emails, chats, and your account. I would like to clear a few things up if I'm able to.

At no point did anyone from MPC laugh at you for the loss of your mother or the trouble with your order. If you felt that I'm SO SO sorry, that is not how we do business.

We have addressed your complaints from the start without being able to make you happy. Prior to you receiving the eggs you had already inquired about how to get a refund for air cells or eggs that you determined were old. We stand by our farms only shipping fresh eggs that stand the best chance of hatching.

I understand that when you have eggs at home that the air bubble changes and grows with the age of the egg. Shipping eggs can mimic this age/change as well and even the best looking egg box can have detached air cells. While this doesn't create the best environment for hatching it is something that comes with the territory of shipped hatching eggs.

Looking back through the pictures, I don't see the severe sandpaper egg shells that you claimed. Our farms don't ship eggs that are very dirty, deformed, have large calcium deposits, or are otherwise abnormal. We pride ourselves on our standards of quality.

Many of the emails you sent were sent back to back at very small increments of time in the middle of the night. Right now, we do not employ anyone to monitor emails overnight and generally reply within 24hours of all inquiries, although on weekends it occasionally reaches the 48hr mark. We stopped replying to your emails when you told us that you didn't want us to contact you anymore. We also tried to talk to you on the phone about your order.

It was very nice of the Customer Service Representative to offer you a refund, that would cover the shipping, even though your eggs hadn't had enough time to hatch. I'm sorry that you took this as an insult of some kind and made us reverse the refund. According to all of the notes and my personal inquiry you haven't spoken to the owner of My Pet Chicken.

We have tried many different times and ways to discuss your order with you. Nothing we have done or said has done anything except to escalate the problem. My Pet Chicken is well known for our customer service and the distance we will go to ensure our customers are happy and return. However, at this time, I don't think there is anything we can say or do to soothe the pain you are experiencing.

Please accept heartfelt condolences from the whole My Pet Chicken family. If you would be so kind as to PM the details of your mother's service or donation choice, I would like to send a gift/donation to pay respects.

Keesemon, oldhenlikesdogs and shezadandy Thanks!

I love this bird (all of them but this one is crazy fun!) I do think you guys are right either ancona or exchequer leghorn. I'm glad to narrow the possibilities, she and one of her sisters, the speckled Sussex I think, was trying to help me look through MPC yesterday to figure out what she might be. LOL
I love this picture! My money is on an Ancona.

Mmmm maybe my mom should have ordered chicks from you Alex, everyone with them seems to be doing great! And I still have eggs if you want to see them...

And I am personally done with shipping eggs. I am a retired ICU nurse. I have knowledge. It just ain't been my luck here lately. Anyway... I am sorry Alex but no more MPC for myself.

So far out of my hatched eggs I have both cuckoo bluebars hatch and two of the Olive eggers. The others are from my own eggs, two bantam and the red one is a blr Wyandotte crossed with a buff Orpington, it was stone cold dead out from under the hen, I got it warmed up and hopefully it can recover, I'm waiting to see if anymore hatch, so far I have no lavender Wyandottes either.

Ordered from me? I understand that you don't want to try MPC again and for that I'm sorry. As previously stated.

I'm glad you were able to get some of the chicks that you originally wanted.

Can I ask you a question Alex?

Why can't you identify that chick?
Sure! I'm open to questions.

I worked as an email customer service Representative for years before I asked to represent MPC on BYC. Since that "training" is ingrained in my behavior and answers, its not common practice to commit to an answer that I'm not 100% sure of. Based on the age, size, color, and characteristics of the chick shown, I am 90% sure that she is an Ancona. However, all chicks grow differently and there is a small chance that I'm wrong. MPC doesn't keep track of the individual chicks that are shipped in an assortment.

Thank you Alex, another olive eggers is hatching now, there's still hope, either way I've had fun and they are adorable. I have been eyeballing other eggs on your site, hopefully when my chicks get here I will be cured of that for at least a month.

sometimes it's what I call, for lack of a better term, shipping stress.  The best thing I have found is to have Nutridrench on hand as soon as they arrive and make sure they get it according to the directions for their first three days or streight up right away if they show signs of slipping.  It's what pulled my 2 frozen stiff survivors thru (see my earlier posts).

I had them on SavAChick electrolytes and probiotics replenished every hour or so as needed immediately. That's what they recommend and what I've always used in the past. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.

BUT, I've got another batch coming June 20 so we'll have another go. Temps are more consistent and they shipped really quickly, available for pick up Wednesday am, so I'm hoping they don't overheat! I'll see if Nutridrench is available at Tractor Supply next time I'm in and have it on hand. I'd never heard of it before.
