Yes, that one is a cockerel, luckily the other two were girls. One on my Black Copper Marans has a big white spot on its head so I wonder if it was mislabeled and is really a Cockoo Marans?

I had ordered cream legbar hatching eggs. The very few hatchlings were cockerels. Cuckoo marans babieshave spotted heads while black copper marans babies look like penguins, sort of. You can tell what they are when they start feathering. You have lots of Milestones to look forward to. My BCM's all had feathered legs as babies (and still do) but not all do so that may not help.

Hey Alex!!!
are you associated with Farmer's Feed Store on Facebook? Just asking because they just posted an add for their chick orders using your logo.

Not that I know of. Could you please PM me the link to their page? There seem to be quite a few pages with that name.

Thank you so much!
Alex

Yeah, I could. I just would rather not end up with 2 actual blues, or 2 blacks, or black and a blue and no splash! Lol I suppose I could try to find someone to take the ones I don't want and keep ordering "blues" until I get lucky and receive a splash!

I think if you ordered more than one the chances are something like 25% to be splash. We wanted a blue and ordered 2, ended up with one blue and one black. Do you know anyone that would want to split a silkie order with you? That way you can order blues and pick a splash and maybe they would keep the others? Or you can try a breeder.

I'm not in the market for chickens yet (I live in Sweden) but I will definitely try to see if that's a possibility in the future, wherever I end up moving to in the US! I'm sure through going to local poultry shows I'll meet people in my area who might be willing to do something like that, or perhaps when the time comes I can find someone on BYC in my area who'd do it!

Yes, silly me, I didn't read all your posts before I replied. Hopefully when you move you'll get what you want. Silkies are pretty popular and I'm sure someone would go in!

We put in an order for chicks! Had to replace two that passed on these past few months. We ordered 1 Salmon Faverolle, 1 Blue Orphington, 1 Cream Legbar, and 2 EE bantams. This will make our third time ordering from MPC and hopefully all goes well. Will update everyone when we get them.

That is such a great assortment! I can't wait to hear how they do.

Please let me know if I can do anything to help.

I have my first order in with MPC set to ship on April 25th. Reading all of these reviews is so encouraging! I really appreciate that Alex is on this site representing the company and helping out with advice. Can't wait for my chicks to arrive!
