they put a little heating pad thing in there with them. I bought my four big girls from them last Aug. I thought at the time I'd only want four chickens

How much was the heat pack? I'm ordering from them on Monday and I'm only going with 8 pullets, only one being a bantam, the rest standard. I'm just afraid that this is going to be too expensive.
I wouldn't totally mind just getting the pack and assuring their safety.

It comes with the order and is included in the Small Order extra shipping charge.
I ordered 8 and it was $80. The small order charge I beleive was $25. They did arrive alive and on time. I did have one die 2 days later. My friend had an absolute terrble experience with them. I will not order live birds from them again, however I would use them for other needs.
Many of the farm stores are ordering chicks now. Many of them will let you put your order with theirs (at least they will around here). You can save on the shipping that way and just pick yours up at the feed store when they come in. Call the feed store and ask. Most of the people are very accomodating, and your problem could be solved.
I was very pleased with My Pet Chicken and would use them again.
Ordered five one day old chicks. They arrived on time, peeping up a storm. All were healthy and all were girls!
The heat pad kept them warm.
Well worth the cost for me. I didn't want to order two dozen chickens and then deal with selling the excess chicks. What a hassle.
