MY plucker is done!! UPDATED..pics added!

I was thinking about building one and even went so far as to source many of the parts on E-Bay. However, while searching for those parts I came across a number of listing for complete units already built for not too terribly much more than the sum of the parts. To me, it makes good sense to spend a bit more, but have a unit that is built solid with a stainless steel housing. I should add, I'm a guy who likes to figure things out and put things together, but when the price difference isn't too far apart it just doesn't make sense to me to spend a lot of time fabricating it myself. Just my 2 cents.

I believe I have a Whizbang. I bought it used on craigslist. Having used it for a year I would suggest a couple of simple modifications, assuming mine is truly a Whizbang. After about 20 birds I have to move the plucker or the feathers knock off the belt. A tensioner pulley on the belt would be wonderful. A sheet of steel to keep feathers off of the belt and pulley would be more wonderful.

In the less simple category, some fingers sticking down, directing feathers out a chute on the side would be ideal.

Nice...

One thing that may be nice to add would be the hose at the top. I'm not sure how hard it would be but mine has a hose around the top with holes in it. Basically it's a "Y' connector and then your intake garden house. I noticed that the water really makes the difference in how the birds come out.

I got mine from Featherman.net but yours is less than half the price and it turned out really nice.

Looks good. I finished mine a couple months ago. What a wonderful thing. My wife and I have about 10 birds to process in a couple weeks. Can't wait to use it again.

Fantastic...
