Your good!!

I think you're a few steps and 10 years ahead of me.

I'm gonna take a few of your suggestions. I have plenty of motors around but still want
to use a drill do the desing will help other BYCers.

The drum is locked into the shaft because it has nuts on both sides squeezing it.

What's a pillow block?

I was definitely being tongue-in-cheek with the "mean to the other chickens making them watch" comment!!!

...

definitely not provocative or questioning ethics, etc...

i thought it was a funny comment, sorry.

Yeah, drill and cheap has it's merits. Especially if you only do a few chickens a year. Of course I live by the motto "he who dies with the neatest gadgets wins!".

Okay, so you used a threaded rod not a smooth one. That makes it real easy to hook up the buffer. I had assumed you had used a smooth shaft. Couldn't see in the video.

Ohhh that's what you mean by pillow. Thanks for the link. I was considering a bearing but
never got that far. I'm a generator and compressor tech by trade so I should have
known that. We use so many terms I can't remember them all. Heck, I can't remember
where I was today.

Yes on the rod. My buffer has a 5/8's thread on it so I used a 5/8" thread to
make it easy.

1000 rpm is the lowest my buffer would go. My cordless drills on low are 400 rpm and that
is way too slow, unless I go to a 5" pipe. I'd like to use a 1200 rpm drill (typical)
and move to a 3" pvc pipe.

I stopped at a Tractor Supply today and shopped around for inspiration. Nothing....

Maybe Nifty would like plucker pages in addition to coop pages.

You guys are putting too much pressure on me. I'm only now desinging version 2.
My friends tell me I'm as stupid as I look and I'm not even sure that is possible.

Genset and compressor tech?! What the heck are you messing around with rotating pluckers for? Set up a carbon arc from a geny to scald the bird and then use a high powered air blade to zap the feathers off!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would be worth the price of ignition, er I mean admission!

I'll bet you do have a few odds and ends laying around. How about any old military GPU engines? I'm looking for a 4a084-4 motor cheap. I want to build an airboat. Wait a minute, I'll bet that would blow the feathers right off a... Someone else gets to hold the chicken though.
