I have two chickens about a year old, they are my first. For a few days now, Millie hasn't left the nesting box. From my research I think Millie has just started becoming broody for the first time, though she hasn't laid an egg for two days, she sits on Roberta's. I just noticed Roberta's back of feathers not looking quite right, I assumed maybe she was molting since it's just now spring. So I was surprised to find a completely bare trail on her back that goes up to her neck (picture doesn't show that) and a sore. poor thing! Did she get bitten by a cat or something else? is it from pecking? what can I do to help her heal back up?
As I was holding her and checking out her back, I noticed drops of blood on her comb. I can't tell if they are coming from her comb or not. They usually sleep in our tree at night but since Millie has been staying in the nesting box, they have been sleeping apart.
