its the timothy hay thing that caused it it seems.i thought it was a treat, not a necessity..i have been feeding him a bowl of pellets a day, along with any vegetable clippings i have in the evenings. poor guy is so skinny!
thanks for the response everyone, i think thats one of the main reasons i love this site, all of the support and advice!
Thanks for your compassion Kitty and mother of many.
It may be as well that your bunny has worms if he's skinny but I would imagine that he's not being able to get the food in his mouth
that's keeping his weight down.
Rule of thumb is 1/4 cup of pellets per day with hay and a nice treat would be herbs (parsely, mint etc.) and watch his poops they'll tell you what's going on with your bun.
If you're in doubt for anything just pm me and I'll do what I can to help you.
Eta...That's 1/4 cup of pellets per 5 lbs. of rabbit.
they checked for worms and said hes ok on that front too..
i just love this bunny to death..he was in a shelter and destined to be put down so i feel lucky to have him!
hes doing great! they trimmed his front teeth, tested him for worms, which was negative, and trimmed his nails! he is eating his little head off..i had some cheezits earlier and he snagged it out of my hand and ran off with it!
we went and got him a big bag of timothy hay and some wooden carrot shaped thingies to chew on.
