The vet sent her home with some medince for the weekend.
The vet took pictures and compared them to other pets caught in snares.
A piece of wire wouldnt put a hole in the leg the way it was.
We looked for the snare and wasnt able to find it. We figure since they had to let her out of thr trap, they know we would find out and took the trap.
We called the police and let them know. If we are able to find proof of something, then they will be able to do more.

She still has her leg as of now,but its badly hurt and doesnt have blood flow in it, so on Monday they have to cut it off.
Even though she has an E-Collar on, she still tries to bite her leg, she has started chewing on her paw, and has that bleeding now.

I'm sorry, but I really dont think this was done by a snare. I'm also not understanding how a 3/32" 7x7 braided cable would cut more than wire? Snares are designed the way they are to prevent damage to the animal, not cause it.

what if they were using the old type snare?
the old type were wire and apin to hold it in place.
needless to say calling police is what needs to be done but you also need to contact fish and game for possible illegal trapping. Old time snares and leg hold traps have been banned in most states. they need be made aware this is possible, also be prepared for them to inspect the wounds, contact the vet. etc. its not something that can be taken lightly.
after thought trapping on anyones property with out written permission is illegal.

Sorry about the dog, but agree dont think it was a trap. Just because she got her leg caught, DOESNT mean someone is setting traps on your land. How can you say that without finding a trap.


Like someone post she could have got out, Many dogs get thru those under ground fences.

You can probably rule out an actual snare but not a trap.
I've seen animals chew their own leg off to get out of a trap. Even if the edge was rusty and there wasn't teeth, it could still easily rub an animal's skin off around the leg in a ring, especially if the animal is struggling around to get out.

If you haven't seen a coyote have that happen from a trap, I'm glad, because that probably means you check your traps regularly.

Were their any traces or rust or metal in the wound?

Poor dog, I'm surprised she didn't break her leg off tryin to get out.

Leg hold traps dont do that kind of damage!!!! They dont break the small leg of a coon..
