Hi all new to here. One of my American Peking ducks seems really poorly in its legs. It eats well and drinks well. I came back from a weekend visiting my sick mother and my duck was limping my husband thinks it may have cut its foot, we looked it did looked grazed however we treated this with antiseptic and salt water bath and it has healed really well. However the poor wee thing is still hobbling it just stand up and then wants to at down lots, I've kept it in on rest but it's breaking my heart watching it. Any help would be welcomed my other duck is fine so it doesn't seem to be anything dodgy and the fact the hobbling duck is eating and drinking and swimming fine says a lot please help

Welcome to the BYC flock! great to have you! Sounds like your duck has a niacin deficiency, There is a certain kind of niacin you have to have for this, I had to search 2 different stores to find it for my duck, I remember finding it at either Super Supplements or something else, it wasn't at Walgreens though. (it might be where you are though, who knows) I will forgot what it is called, so i will check, give me a few minutes.

You can also post on the "Duck thread." just put that in the search box and it will come up. Problems with legs generally stem from a niacin deficiency. But, do ask the duck folks for their opinion first. I believe Brewer's yeast is a good source . The water makes the duck buoyant so he doesn't need to support his weight- floating is easy peasy for him.
