My poults are eating greens at 1 week old

Is it okay that my week old is eating greens?

Are you giving it grit? If not, it really shouldn't eat anything that will need ground up in the gizzard.

Oyster shells don't substitute for grit, and you probably don't want them consuming too much calcium yet.

Sand is a good start then you get grit from the feed store when they get bigger

Most commercial starter feeds have grit in them already. Check your label.

OK...I am feeding chick starter and small amounts of chick grit (just in case the girls try eating some bedding or a bug falls into the brooder). My dadgum border collie just declared war on one of my romaine lettuce plants in the garden...can I chop up some leaves and give them to the girls, you think? They are 5-days old...thanks!

I was feeding my greens and they loved it. Just as long as you know that they have had grit. By the way the LOVE lettuce! GO for it!
