OK, that makes sense, if you are trying not to let other people raise chicks from this project.

I gather you don't care whether they hatch eggs from those hens with a different rooster?

If someone wants to breed their own male to them they will never get mottled anyways so doesnt bother me as most people here have easter eggers or marans roosters

I think the younger the are the more tender they are. Just crock potted a hen i processed last year the breast was dry and the legs and thighs where rubbery. Thats why id rather process them sooner now then later

Sold the single combed laced and the rose comb not great laced hens yesterday and today for $25 each also sold two silkie hens for the same amount, Beatopian is sold to and hopefully tomorrow someone wants my three buff silkies for $50 as one is a male. So now I have room for my growouts the single combed lace went with the two silkie hens this lace went with Beatopian. Time to grow out the next generation

So these two are 7 weeks old now got to play outside yesterday aswell but to rainy now

8 weeks old and been booted to the coop about a week ago now and from lastweek they are already losing the mottling so prolly gonna scrap this project really just a waste of time at this point.
