I have a little gold-laced Sebright that pulled the same stunt for a while. He even had the "experts" stumped for awhile there. In fact, before he finally developed a full-blown crow, we were calling him RuPaul, because no one could tell what gender he was simply by looks. He is now, officially, Junior, because he is the spitting image of his big brother.

Cool! My cockerels name is Iris
Did you think it was a pullet?

Yeah, it was wishful thinking, but it was too late to change it afterwards. But Iris is better than the rooster we named Bianca![]()

We have a blue splash Silkie named Herman, who started life as Irma. By the time "Irma" started crowing, "she" already knew her name, so we had to either keep him Irma or change to something close. We tried a few, but he/she responded best to "Herman," so Herman he is.
Herman is awesome! He sleeps in the house, walks on a leash, comes when he's called and has long conversations with my son, who apparently speaks fluent chicken. Herman is the homeliest, most non SOP Silkie you'll ever find, but he's perfect just as he is. He's our Herman, and we love him!
X's 2 here. By 17 weeks a speckled sussex rooster would have an inch tall comb. Those long feathers on speckled sussex hens always throw people for a loop that haven't ever owned the breed.Looks like a point of lay pullet.
