My small EE (Becky) has been making strange noises for some time now. Becky is exactly eight months old, and weighs half as much as our largest RIR of the same age. She is by far the smallest and lowest on the pecking order of our birds.

She does this loud, short squawk, almost a beep. Also, whenever I pick her up she breathes really fast, wheezing like she has asthma. She has been doing this for a month or so. Today she is making a loud wheezing noise after a beeping squawk every once in a while and she sticks her neck out at the same time. Other than that there is no bleeding or injury.

I don't know if this is relevant, but Becky has a split beak (she has since a chick). Also, she doesn't eat much. Her crop is never full. Right now she's molting and isn't laying eggs.
All the poop in our coop looks normal. She lives with six other birds in a 4x8 coop with a 21x15 foot run. Their bedding is hay/straw, and they all seem pretty happy.

I would like to treat her myself, and haven't done anything so far.
Please give me your ideas and suggestions.
