I am new to posting but have been on this site for a while. I have a flock of eight birds . 6 black sex link pullets , 1 white leghorn pullet. 1 black cockerel. In six days I have gotten eight eggs, all hard shelled, clean and perfect. My leghorn hasnt missed a day since the first egg! I love my birds. Will try to post pictures as I figure this site out.

Congratulations on the onset of egg production. Leghorns have always been my favorite egg layers, and they are beautiful as a bonus.

Sounds like you have some very contented layers at your place.

As long as they are happy, so will you be. Pictures would be nice

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have the best brown and white egg layers in the world in your flock. Black Sex Links are my personal favorites as they are very friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 large, brown eggs per hen per year with double yolks not being uncommon. I have been especially impressed by their persistent laying in really cold winter weather when my other breeds have slacked off. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

You sure have some nice egg layers, and pretty too I see!

I forgot to mention the ages of my birds. The first five are twenty weeks old. When I discovered my flock contained a lovely rooster ( we do love him and the girls do too! ) I ordered three more BsL 4 week old pullets. They are eight week younger and now almost 13 weeks old. The flock is fully integrated (long story but not a bad one) and I am starting preparation for my fall coop clean-out. My coop is pretty nice to be honest but it took a lot of hard work. More on that later in a new post about coops. Thanks forbthebwelcime everyone.

How nice that you like your rooster (and the girls do too, lol)!
