My pullet's voice is changing - and sounds like a goose

Yep, gotta love chicken puberty - aside from the entertainment factor, it means only another month or so before she lays her first egg.

I have been searching for answers as to why my Barnevelder is honking too! She is about 12 weeks old and I am assuming going through puberty, because she and the other two who are the same age are getting their permanent feathers and markings. And looking really beautiful! Thanks for the above posts, I wondered if Barnevelders had deeper voices than other chickens.

As far as I know, most birds do it regardless of breed.
