I went out this morning to check on my White Coturnix quail and noticed the top of of one of my females heads covered in blood. I assumed maybe something spook her and got her head on the top of the cage. But when I got home I found another. This one has a large laceration on the side of her neck. I put a male in with my 5 females about a week ago and this just started last night. It's been cold here so I have left lights on all night the past couple days. I thought this might have something to do with it, so I shut them off. I cleaned both birds wounds and sprayed it with blue Kote. I watched them for a while and noticed the male is being real aggressive. It looks like mating behavior but ****, he is gonna rip my females up. I'm unsure what do do. I'm wanting to breed the birds but this male is gonna go in the freezer if he don't stop. I'm real new to this. Can I get some advice?
