My quail (PIC'S)

So sorry for your loss...

I had the same happen Sunday night.. Lost 10 of my 15... Trying to save the last 5.. Poor things are missing toes .. But I have them in infirmary at my apartment right now and this morning the survivors seem to be doing better not walking well but eating.. and cooing... I will be boxing in with 2x4 around the bottom of my cages and adding a layer of heavy fencing so hopefully this wont happen again...

Well as of this morning I now have a total of 16 quail two of them I got for the wife. They are whites with a black spot on their heads. They are in a much safer place this time

They are all out of the same batch (not sure of the whites) as the first ones I got so they are all the same age. Some where around four weeks.

Coons will still pull the legs thru 1/2 in hardware cloth, floors.

Had it happen. small weled wire for side, make sure nothing can get under the cage to get the legs.

The whites with spots are A&Ms, at least that's what people call them. Most likely they aren't A&M, since those are supposed to be about 1 pound live-weight, and also supposed to be all-white meat, but the color is the same.

The non A&M Whites, are the english whites. been around over 40 years in the States.

White with a few color feathers. Marsh Farm even had some true albino they sold in the 60s, had some dont know if any albinos are still around.

The english whites are PURE WHITE, the ones that this person has, as well as so many others, are small white birds with brown markings on their heads. THESE are marked the same as A&M, but clearly are not.

I had the very first english white back in the late 60s, most had a few color feathers. they were around long before the A&M. Like I posted even then there was albinos.

I started when I was a boy with coturnix, these are facts I got from raising birds.

I spent most of my time in the peafowl section, came back to Quail Section, as I got back into Quail. These are facts, from Marsh Farms when he imported them.

Check some of those white with color feather, you will find they do not have white meat either.

Wish I still had flyer from Marsh Farms. In the late 60s he was selling english white(color feather too) m golden, british range, tuxdio, albino.

I will try to take a pic or two just to show ya'll what they look like. It does not matter to me what they are really. The wife liked them so I got them. The guy I got them from has A&M's there though.

Check the sticky, at the top of this section, by Monarc. Engligh white come all white and white with color feathers.

Lot of wrong info. Think people started call all english white A&M because most people want the bigger and white meat birds.

When buying A&M ,check with seller on what size and if they know if white meat, you will find most are english whites. Lot more english whites out there, very few true A&M.

English whites have been bred for 40 + years here in the states, how long have the A&M, think of the odds.
