This got me curious so I went looking. This is all that I found (the only other good information I found on my search, brought me back to the sticky at the top of the page, lol).

English White: Good specimens of these are completely white, with no discernible markings, other than the merest hint of eyebrow lines on the head.

*English White- smaller than the below A &M but closely related to it as EWs are the gene that was incorporated to produce the A&Ms...come in pure white to pure white with brown spots mainly on back of head but also can be found on back.

We Here In The Us Do Commonly Interchange Names--- Just Because The Animal Looks Like Another We'll Call It By The First Name We Learned--- Most Of The Locals Around Here Call The Pharoah No Matter What Color Or Size They Are. And Alot Of Folks Apply The A&m Name To The English Whites As Well--- No Matter The Op Has A Pair Of Suspect White Coturnix Quail With Some Color Marking That Make The Mrs Op Happy So Its All Good!!!

Ok Now Every Got Their Feathers Smoothed Back? Good! Lets Make Sure Likes To Grill Knows How To Coon Proof His Pens So Mrs Likes To Grill's Suspect White Birds Dont End Up Like A Peg Legged Pirate Parrot!

Best I Can Tell You Is To Protect The Birds As Unimaginably As Possible--- Coons Have The Problem Solving Skills Of A Love Sick Teenager! So, Get Em Covered With Reinforced Tiny Space Mesh All Around And If Possible Up Off The Ground. Also A Protective Barrier Or Skirt Around The Bottom Of The Enclosure Will Also Help Protect Them From Attack From Underneath. Cover The Sides With Small Mesh As Well As Hawks Will Also Rip The Heads Off Any Curious Birds That Can Get Their Heads Thru To Look Around... Sometimes A Simple Light On The Pen Will Help Deter Predators Too---- Once You Have The Pens Built And Reinforced Right They May Still Complicate Things--- Thats When We "sss" Or Shoot, Shovel, And Shut Up! Problem Solved Permanently! Hope This Helps!

Hi likes2grill! You got your quail from us, so I'll respond with what I know. We got our original quail eggs in a 50/50 mix Jumbo Brown/A &M's from a reputable breeder in GA. The offspring of both have been larger than the pharaoh quail we used to raise 25 years ago, but neither are 1lber's. Although we don't have a scale, I'm guessing 12oz. for the largest A&M's and 14oz. for the largest Jumbo's. Our pharaoh's were more like 10oz. by comparison. We found the A&M's to be slighty, but not too much smaller than the JB's, and they both taste the same. We decided to keep mostly Jumbo's for breeding as they are a bit tamer than the A&M's and easier to sex. We have one pen that has 1 male and 2 female A&M's with 1 male and 2 female Red Tibetan's (but have yet to get a Tux from a hatch). The A&M's I kept for breeders were the largest of the bunch that showed the least black. Most of the A&M's we've hatched have been pure white, or white with a small dot on their heads. As with the JB's, our breeding program is focused on bird size and egg production. DH wants to get rid of the A&M's and focus on the Jumbo's as we are getting some huge eggs from the Jumbo's and they are calmer birds. He's in charge of the quail and I do the chickens so it's his call.
I know you've met him and my son, and hope to meet you someday as well. I'm usually on the chicken side of the property as we have quail buyers come to the quail side for biosecurity, as many quail buyers are also chicken owners. My hutch for quail have 1/2 in hardware cloth for floors, front is 1/2 x 1 welded wire, 3 ft off the ground. After the coon got the legs. I put 2 X 4 weld wire around the hutch legs, all the way to the ground. Coons cant get to the quail unless they stay at the front of the pen, so far no more lost.
