My quails

I thought i had made a fairly nice little aviary for my birds but they are strange, they have a nice little sheltered "house" which they use during daylight hours and then the spend the rest of the time out in the open, I took these pics at 06h30 this morning with the temperature at +3 degrees Celsius and they seemed very happy to be out in the open. Is this normal? I got them about 7 weeks ago.

Everything looks normal. Coturnix quail don't usually roost. So the house you built them is treated like any other place in the aviary. They will come and go equally from all the areas.

You should add some plants and logs so they feel more safe and can be in a more natural habitat. Great space though! Wish I had something like that!

Yes they seem interested in those bushes outside the pen! It's a lot of open space for them so maybe they're nervous.

So many possibilities with that space. That number of quail would be comfy in a pen the size of that house you've built, so you have room for many additions. Do you have an incubator?
