My Quaker Parrot died in my hands today!

I'm so sorry, I've kept birds birds for years and the shock of a death never lessens.

Our condolences, my wife lost her Quaker 9 years ago. He was 18 YO and we also raised him from a baby. She cried for days, and I tried to replace him but it was and is never the same. So Sorry.

oh no, i had the same thing happen to me, but my quaker parrot when i was very little, i was twelve i had about died, it was the worst experience ever, i could have killed my younger brother too, he was not nice about the situation, i am here to tell you, that it is a very nice thing to have people to comfort you when you feel your world is going to fall apart, my qp was my only friend at that time, and she died from a dog attack, i am so sorry for the fact that you lost a beloved lil feathered friend

It sounds like Buddy was a very special bird who was loved a lot. I'm sure you gave him a happy life while he was here... Don't feel bad mourning for him, after all it sounds like he was an important part of the family. It's sad and painful to lose a friend, no matter what species they are. Best wishes to you and your family, and keep Buddy fondly in your hearts.

WOW !! Thank you so much quintinp, verity, SilverPheonix and redhen. I don't know if you noticed but that was almost 2 years ago. We still think and talk about Buddy a lot. I thought I had come to terms with it and was OK until I saw your 4 posts today. But I have to admit that as I set here typing this it is very tough. Even after all this time your posts today really touched me. I know there are poelp who think it was just a bird. No Buddy (like many of your pets) was not just a bird he was a family member with no expectations but gave his love unconditionaly!!! I so miss his greetings in the morning, When we left home, when we came home and when it was bed time.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Buddy will always live in my heart and memories.
