As far as I know this is not her first litter. From what I understand she has had several. I suspect that because she didn't have anywhere to have her kits that they just froze. They were pretty cold when I found them.

I was just really shocked at finding dead kits when I wasn't even expecting any. It sure would have been nice to have known. From now on, I'm going to do like you do and put a box in for every new doe.

I agree with Rafter about hte hamburger meat as we did this when we raised Giant Checkers. Also she might have been stressed and they came early too. I know if you look at them before they are 24 hrs old the mom will eat them too so I have been told and true they may have froze too. You did well putting in a box for them to get into as they like the snugness even if they arent bred. It keeps them warm and a safer feeling. Sorry for your loss and she should do better next time.
