Like I saie before, I have a rabbit hutch in the chicken run. No heat whatsoever...and they are fine. So don't know why them running around in the chicken run will make their ears fall off?

The easter bunny came early for me. Found a pretty egg in the rabbit nest! Just too cute! Also, I was told that rabbit food is a good supplement for chickens in the winter so they can get some greens. Use to mix it with their scratch, now I don't have to. I agree, it's the way some things are said that makes a difference. Have a good day, and I love those bunnies! Thanks for sharing the pics!

dbunni- im not sure. the mom was supposed to be a san juan.but she had the rex's soft fur. the babies look more like a san juan than she did. the white one is the dad and i never quite figured out was he is.

i have a dutch buck in a cage hooked onto the coop. i would let him out but he wants to attack EVERYONE! even the females. i have 4 out running around right now. 2 males and 2 females.

i will get more pictures tomorrow after this other big bunch of snow falls tonight. excepted to get 6-8 inches. ontop of what is already out there. theres 8 inches out there now. cant wait. i havent been to school since the 22nd of december. winter break ended the 4th but the snow made some snow days for me. YAY!!!

rainplace-they are very happy bunnies. they love to be out. a while ago before we let the babies out i would let the dutch buck out. he loved to be out. but hes just too mean. what a shame. he wants to come out.

chickflick- i dont see why that would make there ear fall off either. yes i also dont have to mix feed.

Oh I love the little fuzzy butts! thanks for sharing. WE also keep some rabbits in the chicken coop however our chickens have flown the coop...lol...they prefer to stay in the barn and scratch around for sweet feed the other animals drop. They go back to the coop to sleep sometimes when its super cold otherwise they like to roos in the trees abouv the coop...silly chickens Bunnys love running around together and run in and out of the coop as they want. I love watching them. They just seem so much happyer than the bunnys in the cages.

I wouldn't go around saying they are san juans they are illegal to own and turn loose in some states. Even the mixed bred ones. People that get away with keeping them train their beagles on them for hunting. They are similar to the european wild rabbit, and can displace wildlife when given the chance.

yours don't look like san juans. they look like your average domestic rabbit. That one is a rex. The other white loks like a cal mix. Allowing 4 unaltered rabbits to run around like that also isn't a good idea. You may end up overloaed with a lot of bunnies one day. They will breed like crazy and have litter after litter once they get going. Its also a wonder your bucks haven't torn each other up. The reason why the other guy is attacking everyone is because they are territorial animals. He sees the place as his and he doesn't want them there. Does included. However, that should not be translated into that he should be turned loose.

My daughter would go CRAZY to have rabbits like these! They look like plush toys! Very sweet.

I'd go out in a shot and get her some too ----- if hubby wasn't allergic.

I have chickens ..... reading a chicken husbandry book the other day that said
" the best way to warm up a cold coop is add a rabbit" I swear !!!

We have tons of rabbits around us -
lots of wild ones and the odd speckled, brown and white .... they can't be wild.
Someone must have lost them?
Summer time they are in our gardens, we were able to catch one chubby one last summer for a cuddle then off it hopped.
Winter time - I see them under our bird feeder with the doves and blue jays.

I am glad you posted more pictures, being a chicken owner (new at it too!) I am glad to see as many
pics as I can of them in snowy conditions. The more proof I see of chickens enjoying being out in the snow
the more comfortable I feel about doing it too. Slowly the myths I've got in my head about chickens and cold weather
are disappearing. Very helpful , thank you.

I can tell your rabbits make you very happy and a happy owner make happy pets.

You obviously did not read my comment at all. Keeping them out in the middle of winter will cause problems, and yes it can cause severe frostebite(why responsible rabbit breeders/owners chose to keep their stock indoors, or give them an enclosure that protects them from the weather). Yes rabbit food is a good suppliment for chickens. They can't have a whole lot of it. But it does make a good conditioning feed for them. I also kept chickens at one tme too. They were locked up in the winter because their feet would get cold, with the possibility of also getting frostebite, when they were out in the snow. I was always told that hens with cold feet were less likely to lay eggs during the winter. I am not sure if that is entirely true or not though.

Probably pet rabbits that were set free. If you can catch them, keep them. Most domestic rabbits don't do that well when set free in the wild.

Really.....This member was sharing pics of his pets. There was no need to flame and be generally rude.
