My really ugly coop(pic heavy)

LOL i kinda forgot it was in the pictures oops I was having a disagreement with a chipmunk eating the chicken feed. You cant hide redneck lol

I would put a 1x2 or something in front of the nest boxes so the shavings would stay in and eggs don't fall out. But, it's a really cool coop!

You cant really see it in that picture but there is a little bit of ply wood on the edge and part of a stick. Which keeps the shavings in.

It's a nice coop and ugly isn't it. That one was on craiglist someone was trying to sell.

Good luck with the girls. May they be grand layers for you.

Thanks for the advice. The chickens are locked inside at night but i will ad the chicken wire soon.

Not "chicken wire"...."hardware" cloth if you can. The others will explain.

That is NOT ugly. If your Mom thinks it is, show her some REALLY ugly coops. What's most important is keeping your chickens safe, healthy, and happy.

You could put a small window up front - just use a jig saw and cut a square hole - staple some hardware cloth and cover that with trim that you paint a different color (white or black) and then put a flower box under the window.

Or just hang up a planter hook and hang a flowering pot.

Great job and I hope your Mom likes the fresh eggs.

EDIT: I just went back and looked at pics again. You don't have room for a window to the right of the front door as I thought. So just hang a planter full of flowers. Where is your ventilation? Is there a window on the back side? If not, I think you need to add some ventilation.

Yep, it's ugly alright, but that doesn't matter as long as it's functional.
There is a shot gun leaning against the coop. What kind of critters do you need to guard against there that you have to keep a shot gun close by?
